Numerous well-known German and international hospitals are currently performing monocentric scientific studies on the efficacy and clinical effects of the use of CytoSorb in a variety of hyper-inflammatory conditions (e.g. severe sepsis, septic shock, acute pancreatitis, trauma, and consequences of cardiopulmonary bypass in cardiac surgery). Several studies in other application areas such as burn injury or liver failure are in preparation. In total, more than 50 investigator initiated studies are in process, with more than 20 enrolling, 4 having been completed and the rest in various stages of planning.
In the US, the US Air Force is funding a trauma and rhabdomyolysis trial that is currently enrolling under an FDA approved IDE protocol.
Some of these projects are currently close to completion of the clinical phase, so we expect an increase in published evidence on the effectiveness and clinical outcomes of CytoSorb therapy in these applications in the coming months.
